Life Legacy


Betty Jo Ann Hinrichs, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of New Canaan, CT, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont on Saturday, January 26, at 10:30 am, with visitation one hour before at the church. Burial of ashes to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont.
Betty was born August 8, 1933, in Fairmont, MN. She attended Catholic Grade School in Fairmont and then graduated from Fairmont High School. She went on to St. Theresa in Winona for a couple of years before returning to Fairmont to work as a dental assistant. On September 5, 1953 she married Jerry Hinrichs in Fairmont and they raised three children together. During their married life they moved around the US while Jerry worked for New York Life Insurance Company. After retirement they built a home in Costa Rica and spent time there as well as the Kansas City area.
Betty had a contagious joyful spirit that radiated to others around her. She was a loving wife and cared for her children and grandchildren deeply. She was a proud associate of the New Canaan Nature Center for many years.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jerald Hinrichs of Overland Park, KS; three children, Jay Hinrichs (Julie) of Greeley, Co, Jill Rogers of Silver Springs, MD, Jana Rogers (John) of Leawood, KS; four grandchildren, Jordan Rogers, Kristen Rogers, Megan Rogers, Jared Hinrichs; sister, Sally Trembley (Butch) of Fairmont, MN; brother Roger Harris (Kay); nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Loretta Harris, and brother, Robert Harris.
