Darold D. Denton, 65, of Fairmont, MN
Mass of Christian Burial for Darold D. Denton, 65, of Fairmont will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 3, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Darold passed away Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010 at his home in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 2, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A prayer service will be at 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Lakeview Funeral Home. Darold Dean Denton was born on July 23, 1944 in Kossuth Co., the son of Leslie and Maria (Haack) Denton. He grew up in Fenton where he attended school and then worked at Charlie DX Station. He was united in marriage to Vivian Sogge on October 28, 1967 in Windom, MN and they made their home in Fairmont. Darold worked at the Midland Co-op in Fairmont and then worked for many years at Fairmont Railway Motors. After retiring, he enjoyed helping out at Hawkin’s. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Fairmont Saddle Club. Darold was a horse enthusiast, enjoyed playing in his 500 club, puzzles and his pride and joy was watching his family grow up, especially his grandchildren. Those that will cherish his memory include his wife, Vivian Denton of Fairmont; three sons, Dean Denton of Granada, Greg Denton and his wife, Jill, of Welcome, Dan Denton and his wife, Sheila, of Granada; grandchildren, Bethanie, Eian, Chloe and Abbey; mother-in-law, Rosella Sogge of Fairmont; brother, Roger Denton and his wife, Frances, of Bancroft; sisters, LaVonne Doeskin and her husband, Alvin, of Clara City, Darlene Barber and her husband, Russell, of Estherville; in-laws, Carlyn (Larry) Tasto, Irene (Loren) Kleven, Shirley (Steve) Knutson, Linda Kocak; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Darold was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edmer Sogge; brother-in-law, Thomas Kocak; and other aunts and uncles.
Memorials are preferred to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

Leonard L. Howell, 92, of Fairmont, MN
Services for Leonard L. Howell, 92, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 1st, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont with full military honors by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222. Leonard passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2010 at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 30 at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Leonard Levern Howell was born on January 22, 1918, in Dedham, IA, son of Claude and Ola (Huntley) Howell. Leonard received his education in Maple Hill, IA, Graettinger, IA, and Wallingford, IA. Leonard helped his dad on the family farm until he enlisted in the United States Army on June 10, 1942. He did his training in Virginia, Florida, Tennessee and Arizona before being sent to France to fight in World War II. Leonard was wounded in action on September 2, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart before coming home and receiving an Honorable Discharge on April 24, 1945. On May 29, 1946, Leonard was united in marriage to Carol McMurtry in Mankato, MN. The couple resided in Wallingford, IA, for nine years before moving to a farm near Ceylon, MN. They lived there until they retired in 1978, when they moved to Fairmont. The couple shared 64 years together. Leonard was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. He was also a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 36, Martin County V.F.W. Post 1222 and the Polka Lovers Club of America. During their spare time, Leonard and Carol loved going dancing together. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed fishing with his family. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Howell of Fairmont, MN; 6 children, Nancy Schaefer and her husband, Ray, of Forsyth, MT, Richard Howell and his wife, Diane, of Welcome, MN, Larry Howell and his wife, Vicki, of Spirit Lake, IA, Linda Fritz and her husband, Dennis, of Hendersonville, TN, Mary Detert of Fairmont, MN, Debra Laue and her husband, Rod, of Fairmont, MN; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hansel of Ceylon, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Claude and Ola Howell, Leonard was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda Howell; grandson, Eric Fritz; son-in-law, Earl Detert, and half brother, Howard Hansel.

Linda L. Christensen, 66, of Fairmont, MN
Memorial services for Linda L. Christensen, 66, of Fairmont, MN, will be Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Linda passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Linda Leah (Kirschenmann) Christensen was born on January 23, 1944, in Yankton, SD, the daughter of Vernon and Fern Kirschenmann. She attended school in Yankton, SD, and graduated from High School in 1962. On July 29, 1962, Linda was united in marriage to Curtis J. Christensen at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton, SD. Together the couple made their home in Yankton and Sioux Falls before settling in Fairmont, MN, in 1970. To this union, three children were born, Craig, Dawn and Tari. This July, Linda and Curt would have celebrated 48 years of marriage together. While in Yankton, Linda worked as a nurses aide for a number of years before deciding to stay at home and take care of her children. Family was extremely important to Linda and she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She took great joy in the many camping trips over the years and treasured attending the many activities her grandchildren were involved in throughout the years. Her quiet time was spent tending to her flowers and feeding and watching birds. Linda was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and she will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend. Linda was a member of the Elm St. Harmony Club and the Blizzard Snowmobile Club, Girl Scout Leader and Meals on Wheels Volunteer. Left to cherish her memory is her wonderful husband of 48 years, Curt; three children, Craig Christensen and wife, Sherri; Dawn Christensen and fiance Tim Bursaw; and Tari Stradtman and husband, Bob; the twinkle of her eyes, four grandchildren, Logan, Mikayla, Kinze and Jesse; two sisters, Cheryl Hoffman and Pam Kuchta and husband, Terry ; one brother; one brother-in-law, Dave Christensen and his wife, Louise; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Fern Kirschenmann; mother and father-in-law, Chris and Lorraine Christensen; as well as aunts and uncles.
